(Asiad) Divers win silver in women's synchronized event

NAGOYA, Japan - In a remarkable performance at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, South Korean synchronized divers Kim Su-ji and Kim Na-hyun secured the silver medal in the women's 3-meter springboard diving event on Sunday. The duo achieved 254.70 points over five attempts at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre, narrowly missing out on the gold by a substantial margin.

China's Chen Yiwen and Chen Jia outpaced the South Korean team with a commanding score of 328.56 points, while Malaysia's Ker Ying Ong and Yiat Qing Lee claimed the bronze with 243.72 points. This marked the fourth consecutive Asian Games since 2002 that China has triumphed in this event, with the host nation's Kang Min-kyung and Im Sung-young winning silver back then.

Kim Su-ji's previous medal was a bronze in 2023, shared with Park Ha-reum, marking the first time South Korea had tasted Olympic-level success in this event since 2002. Kim Na-hyun, on the other hand, has tasted medal success in her Asian Games debut, adding bronze alongside Moon Na-hyun in the women's synchronized 10-meter platform event on Saturday.
