APC sweeps 17 chairmanship seats in Yobe LG poll

The All Progressives Congress (APC) secured all 17 chairmanship positions and 176 of the 178 councillorship seats in Yobe State's local government council elections held on Saturday. Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Yabani, Chairman of the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YOSIEC), announced the results on Sunday in Damaturu, the state capital.

The elections took place across 178 wards and 17 Local Government Areas, involving 10 political parties. The APC emerged victorious in the chairmanship seats, while the Action Peoples Party (APP) won one councillorship seat in Fune LGA, and the Action Democratic Party (ADP) won another in Karasuwa LGA. Yabani declared that the APC won 176 councillorship seats, with the APP winning in Fune and the ADP in Karasuwa.

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) of Yobe State has accepted the election results, describing the polls as free, fair, credible, and successful. The IPAC Chairman, Comrade Umar Adamu Jajere, praised the elections for their peaceful conduct and the maturity displayed by all political parties during the campaign. He also commended the security agencies for their professionalism and neutrality, and thanked Governor Mai Mala Buni for providing logistics, security, and moral support to the YOSIEC.
