Amanah sets sights on 18 seats for GE16, but concedes it could lose all but one

Subang Jaya, September 27 — Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) is planning to designate its general election candidates soon to familiarize them with the voters and enable the party to prepare systematically for the 16th general election (GE16). Deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa emphasized that bolstering the party's infrastructure and messaging is vital for Amanah to safeguard its present seats and secure additional ones in GE16.

He stated that Amanah aims to secure a minimum of 18 parliamentary seats in the upcoming election, which would empower the party to better advocate for the ummah (Muslim community). Mujahid cautioned that Amanah risks holding just a single parliamentary seat in GE16 if it doesn't bolster its infrastructure and voter backing. He pointed out that based on the party's internal projections and simulations under specific circumstances, only the Kota Raja parliamentary seat, held by Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, is highly probable to remain, while other seats might encounter considerable difficulties.

Mujahid highlighted that Amanah must reinforce the Islam Rahmatan Lil ’Alamin (Islam as a Mercy to All Creation) narrative as the cornerstone of its campaign, convincing Malay and Muslim voters that the party can safeguard and promote their interests without disregarding the rights of non-Muslim and non-Malay communities. He further urged Amanah's leadership to pay greater heed to grassroots members to avert them from leaving the party, by recognizing their sacrifices and attending to their welfare.
