[단독] AI 관심 큰 시니어 세대…95%가 “배워보고 싶다”

South Korean seniors aged 60 to 74, also known as "에이아이 액티브," are increasingly embracing artificial intelligence (AI) technology, with 95% expressing a desire to learn more about it. A recent telephone survey conducted by the Hankyoreh news organization revealed that 40.5% of respondents were more excited than concerned about the growing use of AI in daily life, while 48.7% felt both excitement and apprehension.

A staggering 94.7% of respondents expressed a strong willingness to learn AI, citing convenience in daily life (55.2%), potential health and safety benefits (25.5%), and reducing feelings of loneliness (9.4%) as primary reasons for their enthusiasm. However, concerns about the difficulty of learning AI (30.1%), the potential loss of human touch and interaction (26.6%), and the risk of AI malfunctions (15.1%) were also significant.

AI has already become deeply integrated into seniors' lives, with 28.9% using conversational AI like ChatGPT regularly, 39.8% having tried it at least once, 29.4% having heard of it but not used it, and only 1.9% having never heard about it. Dr. Yun Jae-yun, a senior official at the National AI Strategy Office, suggested that AI can seamlessly integrate into seniors' daily routines, improving the effectiveness of public services and health management.
