[단독]시니어들의 54% “AI 익혀 일·소득으로 연결하고 싶다’

A recent survey reveals that 54% of senior citizens express a desire to connect AI to their work and income. <source 742df015-020> Seoul City and 50 Plus Foundation support a senior named Song Jun-myeong, 66, who is actively working at a small-to-medium-sized enterprise in South Korea. He utilizes AI to compose documents, conduct company research by region, and create price lists. Recently, he has begun using AI for preparation, teaching, and consulting activities.

Song Jun-myeong sees AI as a tool to connect his extensive experience with future opportunities. According to the "AI Perception Survey of Seniors," 47.6% of respondents expressed interest in connecting AI to their work and income, while 6.3% have already done so. A total of 53.9% of respondents expressed this interest, with 41.1% saying they were interested but had not yet taken action. Only 5.1% expressed no interest.

However, the percentage of those who have moved from interest to action is relatively low. The gap between interest and action is significant. Interest is equally strong across genders and age groups. Among those aged 60-64, 53.3% expressed interest, while 44.5% in the 65-69 age group and 43.7% in the 70-74 age group showed similar levels of interest.

When asked about the specific form of income or employment they desire connected to AI, 25.6% said they would pursue side jobs or part-time work, 21.2% would utilize AI in their current or previous work, 13.1% would seek new job opportunities, 8.0% would engage in volunteer work without compensation, and 3.0% would consider small-scale entrepreneurship. 29.1% said they were not sure what they wanted. The desire to try a new job full-time is lower than the demand for side jobs or part-time work that incorporate AI.
