White House bars CNN from covering upcoming Trump trip, broadcaster says

The White House has barred CNN from covering President Donald Trump's upcoming trip to Knoxville, Tennessee, where he was to watch a college football game, according to a news broadcaster. CNN was scheduled to travel on Air Force One with the president, acting as the representative of the TV press pool for the weekend, sharing video and information with the other networks in the press pool.

However, the network was replaced by Real America's Voice News, a conservative outlet, reported the Associated Press. This move comes as part of a recent conflict between the Trump administration and media networks that the president deemed unfavorable in their coverage. Earlier this week, Trump had barred CNN, MSNBC, and Politico from the White House after accusing the networks of reporting "fiction and lies."

Following this, several major TV networks, including DW, halted their pooled coverage of the president in solidarity. A federal judge initially struck down the ban in a ruling on Thursday, after the outlets filed a lawsuit. However, the judge's order primarily addressed hard passes to the White House grounds and did not directly impact the pool duties.
