White House bars CNN from covering upcoming Trump trip, broadcaster says

The White House has barred CNN from covering President Donald Trump's upcoming trip to Knoxville, Tennessee, where he is set to watch a college football game, CNN reported. The news organization was part of the TV press pool, tasked with covering the president and sharing video and information with other major networks in the pool.

CNN's exclusion was replaced by Real America's Voice News, a conservative network. This move marks another clash between the Trump administration and media outlets the president alleges are biased in their coverage. Earlier this week, Trump had barred CNN, MSNBC, and Politico from the White House due to the networks' reporting he deemed as "fiction and lies."

In response, major TV networks like DW also withdrew their pooled coverage in solidarity. A federal judge temporarily blocked the ban on Thursday after the outlets filed a lawsuit, but the ruling did not directly address the press pool duties. The judge's order covered only the hard passes required to enter the White House grounds.
