Video Shows Kunal Ghosh’s Car Attacked With Eggs, Stones In Bengal’s Hooghly; Rear Windshield Smashed

On Saturday, Trinamool Congress MLA Kunal Ghosh’s car was targeted with eggs and stones during a rally in Hooghly, West Bengal. The attack occurred in Uttarpara, where a group with black flags surrounded and blocked Ghosh’s vehicle. Videos showed individuals smashing the rear windshield with a barrage of eggs and stones. Ghosh opted to return to Kolkata rather than attend the rally, alleging the vehicle was pelted with stones and eggs while no police presence was reported.

He vowed to file a complaint at Lal Bazaar or Bhawani Bhawan. The police have not yet identified the attackers. The Trinamool Congress party has blamed the BJP for orchestrating the pre-planned assault, whereas BJP leaders deny involvement, suggesting it was a disruptive protest. Mamata Banerjee alleged the BJP was obstructing her rally by preventing supporters' access, claiming police were blocking party workers from attending.

The Calcutta High Court confirmed Banerjee's September 26 meeting at Serampore Court Maidan, but focused on attendance limits and timing. The attack follows a series of egg-throwing incidents against TMC leaders in West Bengal, including an incident outside Banerjee's residence in June. The police are currently investigating the attack on Ghosh's vehicle.
