Vashi Jewellery Shop Burglary: Thieves Drill Through Wall During Ganesh Visarjan Noise, Escape With 2.5 Kg Silver

Navi Mumbai witnessed a daring jewellery shop robbery on Saturday morning. Thieves managed to break into the shop by drilling through an adjoining wall, taking advantage of the loud drumbeats during the Ganesh Visarjan procession. The suspects had rented the adjacent shop just 22 days prior, claiming they intended to start a fruit-selling business.

Police believe the shop may have been used as a base to facilitate the break-in. As the thieves entered the jewellery shop through the newly created opening, they aimed for the safe containing valuable silver ornaments and cash. However, their plan was foiled when the alarm system sounded, alerting the public. The thieves, fearing the arrival of law enforcement, hastily fled with approximately 2.5 kg of silver ornaments and a small amount of cash.

The incident came to light following the alarm, prompting the APMC police to investigate. Evidence was collected from the scene, and police are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspects. The person who rented the adjoining shop, 22 days before the burglary, has reportedly vanished. Authorities are investigating whether he played a role in the crime and are examining his rental documents, including his identity proof and address.

Police are also exploring the possibility of an outside gang's involvement, potentially from Jharkhand, though this will be confirmed only after further investigation.
