#SHOWBIZ: Hasnol's hard times: Veteran singer survives on e-hailing, busking, living in workers' quarters

KUALA LUMPUR - Veteran singer Hasnol, whose real name is Hasnol Hassan Ariff, has spoken candidly about his challenging period, sharing that he is currently residing in temporary workers quarters provided by a friend in Shah Alam, Selangor. The 56-year-old artiste is diligently working to rebuild his life while seeking a stable income.

Due to his dire financial circumstances, he frequently skips meals to make his daily budget stretch for essential expenses. Reflecting on his past glory, Hasnol admitted that his current life is vastly different from his peak years.

Despite the stark contrast from his previous success, Hasnol remains hopeful and accepts his current situation as part of his journey. He believes that this might be a divine reminder to return to his faith. He acknowledges that he could lose all his luxuries at any moment and has accepted what fate has dealt him. To survive, Hasnol commutes for an e-hailing service during the weekdays and performs busking on weekends.

While he continues to receive inquiries about potential singing gigs, converting these opportunities into paid work remains difficult. He explained that while he still receives invitations to perform, people often inquire about his rates and then abruptly become silent. His recent hardship began in May, when he was compelled to leave his rented home after failing to pay the rent.

At that time, he made a public plea for assistance, stating that he only had ten days left to pack and leave.
