QB Garrett Bass-Sulpizio rushes for 2 TDs, Tommy MacPherson makes 2 INTs as Cornell beats Yale 38-25

Cornell's quarterback Garrett Bass-Sulpizio connected on two touchdown drives and rushed for two more scores, while defensive back Tommy MacPherson recorded two interceptions as the Big Red defeated Yale 38-25 in their Ivy League opener on Saturday.

Cornell's dominant performance marked their sixth win in their last eight home games, dating back to November 16, 2024. Five of those victories were against Ivy opponents. Yale, on the other hand, entered the game without their starting quarterback Dante Reno, who suffered a left elbow injury during their previous game.

Bass-Sulpizio completed 14 of 21 passes without an interception and added 12 carries for 27 yards. His first touchdown came on the opening drive of the second half, when MacPherson's interception return from 44 yards out set up a short field for Cornell. In the second half, Cornell drove 83 yards in ten plays for a 28-18 halftime lead, sparked by a one-yard touchdown run by Ean Pope.

MacPherson then intercepted a pass on Yale's opening possession of the second half and returned it 19 yards to set up a 43-yard touchdown drive. Yale backup quarterback Charles Hewitt finished 26 of 44 for 244 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
