Muslim youth urged to make goals, dreams their compass

The second edition of Qatar Foundation's Qiyada conference concluded with a focus on young Muslims finding their purpose in life, guided by their faith and using technology for positive change. The two-day event at Multaqa in Education City Student Centre gathered over 1,300 Muslim youth to discuss faith, identity, leadership, and challenges in today's world. Themes included guided by faith, thriving in a changing world, and building leadership skills.

On the second day, Dr Abdulrahman al-Harami delivered a talk titled "The Compass: Which Direction?" He defined "the compass of life" as the thing a person is willing to pour their time and effort into, and stressed the importance of assessing and managing time wisely. Dr al-Harami urged the young attendees to reflect on their values and time management.

Sheikh Hisham Abu Yusuf addressed the role of technology, particularly artificial intelligence, in leadership. He noted that excessive reliance on AI and digital resources can hinder the pursuit of knowledge and real-world engagement. Dr Omar Suleiman discussed the evolving nature of leadership in a digital age, emphasizing the need to adapt to rapid changes.

Dr Osman Umarji highlighted the unprecedented rate of change in the modern world, urging participants to embrace the uncertainty and adapt accordingly. Media professional Sheikh Abdullah al-Buainain concluded the conference by stressing the importance of self-awareness and purpose in life. He emphasized that purpose is not obtained through stage appearances or platforms, but by answering the question, "Where do I belong?"
