Melaka election: Hamzah keeps mum on PN-BN seat negotiations

Melaka's Wawasan president, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, has remained silent on the PN-BN seat negotiations ahead of the Melaka election. Instead, he has emphasized the upcoming Melaka Coastal Run 2026, which saw participation from over 2,000 people of various ages. Hamzah urged the media to concentrate on the event, stating that their primary goal is to get things moving.

The Melaka Coastal Run 2026, scheduled about a week before the state assembly's dissolution, is not solely political in nature. The event, which could potentially become an annual programme, aims to attract more visitors to the state, particularly young people and Melaka residents. Hamzah explained that the idea for the programme emerged during a meeting with former Melaka chief minister and Wawasan vice-president Tan Sri Rahim Thamby Chik, who was also present at the event.

The Melaka Coastal Run 2026 attracted more than 2,000 participants, reflecting an encouraging public response. Hamzah also mentioned that the event aims to encourage community ties and potentially revive interest in visiting Melaka, while boosting the state's tourism sector.
