Kuala Pilah student death: Fadhlina orders probe, immediate audit

KUALA PILAH: Education Minister Datuk Fadhlina Sidek has ordered an immediate audit into the death of a Form Two student at a school in the area, believed to have been the result of bullying. The minister stated that no one would be shielded from misconduct or breaches of the law if they were found during the investigation. She instructed the Schools Inspectorate to conduct the audit, which will identify any non-compliance. Appropriate action will be taken based on the investigation's findings, in line with the law.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing, and the ministry has been informed that a student has been detained to assist with the probe. Fadhlina affirmed that both the Education Ministry and the school would cooperate fully with the police to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation. The education minister expressed deep sorrow over the student's death and extended condolences to the bereaved family. She personally met with the family at the hospital to convey her sympathy.

Fadhlina visited the school to meet staff, District Education Office officers, State Education Department officers, and the police to gather information about the incident and the actions taken. The ministry is providing counselling and psychosocial support to the family and the school community affected by the incident, prioritizing their welfare during this challenging time. The Education Ministry will cooperate fully with the police investigation and ensure the welfare of the school community remains protected.
