Iran insists on diplomatic solution after Trump rejects peace plan

Iran has firmly stated that diplomacy alone can resolve the ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel, after US President Donald Trump expressed his rejection of an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and cease hostilities. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi emphasized that Iran's conditions must be met before reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

The proposal was transmitted to the United States through Qatari mediators at the UN General Assembly in New York. Despite Trump's public rejection, Araqchi claimed mediators have not officially informed Iran of the US position. Iran maintains its refusal to compromise on its nuclear program, even if it agrees to the proposed deal.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated Iran's stance, refusing to engage in bullying or coercion. Previous diplomatic efforts have not succeeded in ending the war that commenced on February 28, resulting in thousands of casualties and economic strain. Iran continues to retaliate against its adversaries in the Gulf, while also engaging with them over the disputed Strait of Hormuz, highlighting the gravity of the ongoing seven-month old conflict.
