ICSA president McNamara leaves role with immediate effect

Sean McNamara has resigned as president of the Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers Association (ICSA) immediately. According to the ICSA, Mr McNamara's departure from the farmer representative group is effective right away. The president, who is a sheep, suckler, and beef farmer from Westmeath, assumed the role of ICSA leader in 2024.

During April's fuel protests, McNamara was a notable participant. Sources suggest that senior ICSA members considered his involvement in the protests to be the reason why the group was not invited to a later stakeholder meeting on fuel prices between the government and other representative groups. McNamara is anticipated to participate in an upcoming fuel protest meeting scheduled for tomorrow in Moate, County Westmeath.

The ICSA expressed gratitude to McNamara for his contributions to the organization and his efforts on behalf of ICSA members during his tenure as president. The association noted that additional information regarding the presidency arrangements will be disclosed at a later time.
