Federal police to quiz former Negeri Sembilan exco members

Pahang's Yang Dipertuan Besar, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, recently rescinded the appointments of 10 former executive councillors. This decision was made on Monday, and the implicated individuals will face questioning by federal police the following day in Seremban. A source close to the situation disclosed that an officer from Bukit Aman will travel to Negeri Sembilan to conduct the interviews, and the exco members have indicated their willingness to cooperate in the investigation.

The source, however, did not provide further details about the nature of the probe, but did not dismiss the prospect that it might be connected to the state's ongoing constitutional crisis. On Monday, Tuanku Muhriz officially revoked the appointments of the 10 exco members, stating that they had violated their oaths of office and pledged allegiance to the state ruler, which they had sworn to on August 7.

The removal of the exco members came a week after they issued a joint statement affirming Tuanku Muhriz's resignation as the state ruler. Later on Thursday, the state's chief minister, Ismail Lasim, declared that the 10 sacked exco members, who he maintains are still valid officeholders, are prohibited from entering their offices.

The chief minister also reported receiving an order that prevents them from fulfilling their duties as exco members. Today, Attorney-General Dusuki Mokhtar confirmed that the revocation of the exco members' appointments, seven of whom were affiliated with Umno, is legally valid.
