At least 5 injured in ongoing Russian drone strikes on Kyiv

On September 26, Kyiv was struck by Russian drone attacks, resulting in at least five injuries, according to local authorities. The city has endured continuous Russian assaults for two days straight, with the capital receiving five air raid alerts overnight and in the morning alone. Since September 25, 15 such alerts have been issued, disrupting life across the city.

Four districts, including Solomianskyi, Darnytskyi, Obolonskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi, bore the brunt of the attacks. In Solomianskyi, a Russian drone hit a five-story residential building, leading to the evacuation of 20 individuals. The incident also ignited a fire on the roof of an office building. Darnytskyi saw a fire near warehouses, while Obolonskyi experienced drone debris falling near a residential area, shattering windows.

Sviatoshynskyi was hit when a drone slammed into a shopping and entertainment center, causing a fire and damaging a shop.

The attacks on September 25 also resulted in casualties, with seven people losing their lives and 59 others injured, including 25 who required hospitalization. Among the fatalities was a 14-year-old boy, an Israeli citizen, who perished when a Russian strike targeted a residential building in the Pecherskyi district.

Ukraine has been grappling with Russia's increased use of advanced jet-powered drones, such as the Geran-5, which can reach speeds up to 600 km/h and fly at altitudes of up to 6,000 meters. In response, Ukraine is developing interceptor drones, though mass production plans have not been announced.
