Anwar still waiting for Loke’s resignation letter

Shah Alam: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has not yet received the letter of resignation from DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook as transport minister. When asked about Loke's status within the Cabinet, Anwar merely mentioned that he was awaiting the resignation letter from the DAP leader. As the Pakatan Harapan chairman, Anwar had previously encouraged Loke to reconsider his decision to resign from the Cabinet following former Prime Minister Najib Razak's conditional pardon.

He emphasized that the DAP should not give in to pressure from those who wish to remove the party from the government with the aim of destabilizing the administration. Anwar stated that he would continue to discuss the matter with Loke, hoping to gain his official explanation. Despite this, Loke remains committed to his resignation, promising to submit it upon returning from a working visit to China.

According to an invitation from the transport ministry, Loke is set to preside over the Maritime Week 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Tuesday. Anwar also avoided questions regarding Perikatan Nasional's suspension by the Registrar of Societies, directing reporters to seek clarification from Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail on the issue.
