Anwar still waiting for Loke’s resignation letter

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has yet to receive the letter of resignation submitted by DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook as transport minister. When confronted by reporters about Loke's status within the Cabinet, Anwar refrained from providing an answer, stating that he was merely awaiting the resignation letter from the DAP leader.

Prior to this, Anwar had called on Loke to reconsider his decision to resign from the Cabinet following the conditional pardon granted to former Prime Minister Najib Razak. The PKR president emphasized that the DAP should not give in to pressure from individuals who wish to see the party leave the government, as this would only serve to destabilize the administration.

Anwar has indicated that he would engage further with Loke to obtain his official explanation regarding the resignation. Despite this, Loke has remained resolute in his decision, stating that he will submit his resignation upon returning from a working visit to China. According to an invitation from the transport ministry, Loke is set to participate in the Maritime Week 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Tuesday.

When asked about Perikatan Nasional's suspension by the Registrar of Societies, Anwar directed reporters to seek clarification from Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
