4 killed as helicopter crashes in field in Canada’s Quebec, probe launched

A helicopter crashed in a field near Montreal, Canada's Quebec province, on Saturday afternoon, resulting in the deaths of all four people on board, according to Quebec provincial police. The incident occurred around 2.30 pm after the aircraft crashed and caught fire near Rang des Écossais, located off Highway 10, approximately 50 kilometres southeast of Montreal.

The four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders quickly extinguished the fire, bringing it under control within an hour. The identities of the victims have not been released, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Sûreté du Québec's Major Crimes Unit and the Transportation Safety Board of Canada. Transport Minister Steven MacKinnon offered condolences to those affected by the tragic incident.
