Trump, Xi review bilateral ties, vow to chart future course over common interests

During the meeting, both presidents exchanged views on various issues, including artificial intelligence (AI), and agreed to maintain human control over AI technologies while upholding a people-centered approach. Xi Jinping urged the US to handle the Taiwan issue with prudence, while the two leaders discussed the importance of resolving the Taiwan question through peaceful means.

The summit also featured a grand welcome ceremony at the White House, complete with military honors and a flyover by fighter jets. A state dinner followed, where the two leaders toasted to their countries' relationship and celebrated the blending of American and Chinese culinary traditions. Notable attendees included tech executives such as Jeff Bezos, Jensen Huang, Mark Zuckerberg, Sam Altman, Sundar Pichai, Elon Musk, Sanjay Mehrotra, Satya Nadella, Tim Cook, and Michael Dell.

On the sidelines of the summit, a small group of protesters gathered near the White House, expressing their dissent with slogans related to Tibet, Hong Kong, and East Turkestan. The two-day visit concluded with a visit to the National Archives.
