Tributes pour in for PM’s late brother Idrus Ibrahim from Cabinet members

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's elder brother, Idrus Ibrahim, passed away on September 24, 2021, at the age of 83. Several Cabinet ministers have taken to social media to express their condolences to Anwar and his family.

Agriculture and Food Security Minister Mohamad Sabu described the loss as deeply painful and prayed for the deceased's soul to be forgiven and placed among the righteous. Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo shared the grief experienced by Anwar following the loss of a loved one, noting his own experience of losing a family member.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek remembered Idrus as a veteran of the struggle, rich in experience and wisdom. She emphasized that politics was not merely about winning or losing, but about people and the values upheld throughout the journey. Human Resources Minister R. Ramanan conveyed his condolences and prayed for strength, resilience, and peace for the family during this loss.

Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Steven Sim described Idrus not just as his teacher, but as a firm, disciplined, and principled educator who always cared for his students. He expressed deep appreciation for Idrus' advice and guidance throughout his journey as a politician.
