Pune SIR hearings to begin on September 28, over 19k notices distributed

Pune district has initiated the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) procedure for voter rolls, distributing notices to over 19,000 voters as of September 24. The hearings to clear voters' names for inclusion in the updated rolls will commence on Monday, September 28. Deputy District Electoral Officer Minal Kalaskar informed that 12,03,715 notices have been generated, with 19,945 issued by Booth Level Officers.

Approximately 13,32,418 voters were flagged for hearings during the draft SIR list publication on August 31. During the hearings, voters are advised to bring original documents for verification, as photocopies will require external department verification. Unmapped voters and those with logical discrepancies or anomalies will attend the hearings, conducted by Assistant Electoral Registration Officers.

One AERO mentioned having 1799 notices under his jurisdiction, with daily hearings expected to rise to 150-200 by the end of the process.
