Taktik guna masalah untuk dapat sokongan?

Jabatan Pendaftaran Pertubuhan Malaysia (JPPM), previously known as Perikatan Nasional (PN), has 30 days to write a letter to convince the Registrar of Societies (RoS) why their registration should not be cancelled. While PN is currently being held, it is acknowledged that PN faces significant problems. However, using these issues to garner public support and gain support is the priority.

Once RoS is informed, PN continues to portray itself as the victim, claiming to be the "oppressed and slandered party." The initial reaction from Chief Secretary Takiyuddin Hassan was that PN does not accept the possibility that PN's actions are a result of a malicious intention and political pressure from within and outside PN.

Takiyuddin also pointed out that the action taken by RoS was at the time of the dissolution of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly to enable state elections. The target, according to me, is the component party and supporter to sympathize with PN and be angry at the government's "malicious" attempt to block PN in the Melaka by-election as a short-term strategy and long-term PRU16 strategy.

The second target is the general public, outside of PN and the 'neutral' group, hoping that their anger will support PN (because they claim they were manipulated) and seek revenge for the alleged persecution they claim has occurred. But what is not appreciated is what led RoS to take action. This is due to allegations from Bersatu regarding several PN (coalition) actions deemed illegal, which PN claims are not following the rules.

The backlash came when PAS, the strongest party within PN, stopped its political cooperation with Bersatu. Wawasan Negara (Wawasan) and Pejuang were brought in as new components of PN. PN also formed an electoral pact with BN during the PRN in Negeri Sembilan and, a step that Bersatu claims was made unilaterally. PAS President Hadi Awang claimed that Bersatu automatically ceased to be a component of PN due to the RoS action against it.

In contrast, Takiyuddin argued that the RoS action against PN may be due to "political pressure from within and outside PN." It is possible that Takiyuddin meant 'Bersatu' as the 'within' because that party made the complaint to RoS. Interestingly, by using the term 'within,' Takiyuddin could still acknowledge Bersatu as a component of PN, even though Hadi had already stated that Bersatu was automatically excluded from being a component of PN.

Another point to note is that according to Takiyuddin, with the RoS action, PN will be given a "gag order." This means that no one can make any statements on behalf of PN regarding the RoS issue. Only Takiyuddin and PN Chairperson Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar are allowed to do so. However, PAS Chairperson Ahmad Fadhli Shaari took to Facebook to say that 'those with power' can do whatever they want.

He advised that everyone should use government agencies to persecute their opponents, but remember that one day they too will be under the same pressure. Agree or disagree, this is a different issue. What I want to know is whether the PAS Chairperson was exempt from the gag order announced by Takiyuddin? Could it be only Takiyuddin and Ahmad Samsuri who can make statements?

For fairness, it needs to be clearly stated that RoS informed their action after hearing complaints from Bersatu, based on several legal provisions detailed to PN. Perhaps due to the 'contingency' element, RoS was called upon to issue a statement explaining that the action against PN was only 'contingency' and not 'cancellation' of registration.

RoS emphasized that the notification to PN was given with the intention of requesting that the coalition provide an explanation based on the complaints filed by Bersatu. In summary, PN must provide its side of the story. It is understood that Bersatu's official complaint involves accusations of improper management of PN led by PAS.

It is said that there are eight main accusations of improper conduct. Takiyuddin was called by RoS to provide an explanation before the notification of the contingency was issued. Also, Chief Secretary of Bersatu Azmin Ali was called. Additionally, Wawasan, a new component of PN, released a statement accusing hidden hands behind the RoS action. I only ask - was Wawasan informed about the gag order against PN? Are we in the dark?
