Suleja: Police arrest security guard over alleged rape, killing of 11-year-old girl in Niger

On September 19, an 11-year-old girl, Christabel Albert, went missing after leaving her home in Suleja to attend a relative's birthday ceremony. According to the Niger State Police Command, a pastor of the Apostolic Church, Suleja, reported finding Christabel's body inside a well at the church premises a few days later. The police later traced the suspect, a 26-year-old security guard named Godwin Dauda, to Kuje area of the Federal Capital Territory.

Dauda confessed to police that he lured Christabel into his security room at the church on the day she went missing and sexually assaulted her. He further admitted that she died during the assault and that he disposed of her body in the well to cover up the crime. The police are currently conducting a preliminary investigation and will transfer Dauda to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Minna for further investigation and potential prosecution.
