Police arrest 64 suspects over alleged unlawful possession of firearms in Accra

The Ogun State Police Command announced the arrest of 43-year-old Edebiri Temitope, who is accused of killing his neighbour, Micheal Oje, by beating him to death with a bamboo stick. The incident occurred in Bluestone Treasure Estate, Mowe-Ofada area of Ogun State on August 26. According to Peter Adum, a younger cousin to the deceased, Micheal had returned from work and his 3-year-old child had approached him and hugged him.

Micheal playfully threw the child in the air and caught him before going to sleep. Unfortunately, Edebiri, the father of the boy, came outside and confronted Micheal, accusing him of playing roughly with his child. Micheal defended himself by stating that he only hugged the boy and lifted him into the air. This led to the man slapping Edebiri, who then picked up a bamboo stick from the ground and struck him three times.

Edebiri fell and died at the scene. The suspect managed to hide with his family, but was eventually apprehended by the police. He was transferred to the State CID, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
