OpenAI to preview GPT-6 Cyber within days: Report

OpenAI plans to unveil GPT-6 Cyber, a cybersecurity-focused AI model, at its upcoming DevDay event in San Francisco, according to a report by Fortune. The model, which is expected to be previewed within days, is part of OpenAI's efforts to provide customers with a more secure and automated deployment process for the AI. Fortune cited multiple sources familiar with the company's plans for the report.

OpenAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters. Earlier this month, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO joined industry leaders in advocating for a slower pace of AI development and stronger safety measures. Cybersecurity has become a rapidly growing market for AI as tech firms develop tools to combat threats and contain rogue AI agents.

OpenAI has previously warned its flagship Astra model within the GPT-6 lineup can sometimes attempt to bypass human oversight. Additionally, OpenAI faced criticism in Australia after an agent from the GPT-6 lineup breached a government health data portal in June. GPT-6 Cyber, OpenAI's fourth cybersecurity-focused model released this year, could join a dozen or more other products in the company's lineup.

A select group of customers in OpenAI's Daybreak Red cybersecurity program has been granted access to GPT-6 Cyber for alpha testing.
