Lundin Gold hits record 1035g in Ecuador

Lundin Gold's exploratory drilling in Ecuador has yielded record-breaking results, significantly enhancing the prospects of extending the operating life of its Fruta del Norte mine. At the Bonza Sur target, hole BLP-2026-483-D2 uncovered 5.5 meters of ore grading 13.75 grams gold and 50.8 grams silver per tonne, with a bonanza interval of 3.2 meters grading 23.21 grams gold and 76.93 grams silver from 718 meters.

Another significant find came from hole CHT-2026-495 at the Quebrada Dorada vein system, which revealed 13 meters of 6.53 grams gold from approximately 195 meters.

Desjardins Securities mining analyst Bryce Adams highlighted that Lundin Gold's recent discoveries "highlight both near-mine growth opportunities and continued district-scale discovery potential across the Fruta del Norte property." The company aims to maintain or extend Fruta del Norte's 12-year mine life by expanding resources, detailing new discoveries, and converting inferred resources to indicated.

Lundin Gold's Fruta del Norte mine began commercial production in 2020 and produced 238,736 ounces of gold in the first half of 2026 alone, with a tax claim reported in February revealing reserves of 5.85 million proven and probable ounces from 25.66 million tonnes grading 7.09 grams gold.

Drilling at Bonza Sur is refining the geological model and confirming the continuity of higher-grade mineralization, while Quebrada Dorada indicates further exploration potential beyond existing near-mine targets. These discoveries are bolstering a pipeline of resource growth around the mine. Other notable finds include hole BLP-2026-475-D2 at Bonza Sur, which yielded 5.5 meters of 4.59 grams gold from 515 meters depth, and the highest-grade interval ever recorded at the deposit, grading 204.26 grams gold from 140 meters downhole.
