Invest with confidence, Ghana’s golden era is beginning – Finance Minister

Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson called on businesses in Ghana to invest with confidence, expressing his assurance that the government will maintain the progress made in stabilizing the nation's economy. During a meeting with the leadership of the Association of Ghana Industries and prominent industry leaders, Dr Forson revealed that the government's plan for economic transformation will be unveiled in the 2027 Budget.

He encouraged investors to proceed with confidence, stating, "Feel free to invest because we will sustain the gains. The golden era for Ghana is beginning, and our new blueprint will be announced in the 2027 Budget."

The Finance Minister highlighted the significant improvements in the macroeconomic environment and assured that these gains would be protected and enhanced. He explained that the 2027 Budget would transition Ghana from a state of stability to one of transformation. Dr Forson also mentioned that President John Dramani Mahama had pledged to invest US$10 billion in strategic sectors over the next four years.

"We want to produce more, add value, and create more jobs for the Ghanaian economy. This means addressing the fundamental challenges we face as a country," he stated.

To support business expansion and investment, the government has taken steps to reduce the cost of capital and will continue its efforts to further decrease it. Dr Forson urged the industry to contribute to domestic revenue mobilization to lessen the government's dependence on excessive borrowing. He cautioned, "We need your support to raise the necessary revenue so that the government does not borrow beyond its means, as we saw in 2022."
