Bus dropped man 10 km short at midnight, he wins Rs 31,500 payout from travel firm

The Visakhapatnam District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission recently ordered a travel company to pay Rs 31,500 to a man who was forced to travel in a non-AC bus despite paying for an AC one, and left 10 km short of his intended destination at midnight. The commission ruled in favor of the man after hearing a complaint filed by him alleging that the travel company made him travel in a non-AC bus even though he had paid for an AC bus and was dropped off at Kovvuru, around 10 km from Rajahmundry.

The commission found the travel company liable for deficiency in service and ordered them to pay Rs 500 for the difference in fare, Rs 30,000 in compensation, and Rs 1,000 for litigation costs.
