‘We are disappointed’ – GRNMA on Salomey Baffoe’s bail denial

The Accra High Court has denied a bail application from senior nursing officer Salomey Awiti Baffoe, who is accused of abetting a crime related to the alleged dissemination of false news on social media. The court expressed concerns that releasing Baffoe at this stage could pose a risk of her interfering with witnesses, given the cyber-related nature of the investigation.

Baffoe was initially arrested in September and later brought before the Adentan Circuit Court, where she entered a not guilty plea to charges under Sections 20(1) and 208 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). The prosecution claims that Baffoe acted as a liaison for UK-based TikTok personality Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, commonly known as "Ghana Jollof," and helped recruit individuals to disseminate her videos across various social media platforms.

Authorities allege that financial transactions took place between the two women, with Kodua reportedly sending funds to Baffoe to facilitate the distribution of the videos. Some of the money allegedly made its way to other individuals involved in spreading the content. The police are currently investigating Ghana Jollof for publishing false news, making incendiary comments, and engaging in offensive behavior.

She remains wanted as the investigation continues. Baffoe was previously denied bail by the Adentan Circuit Court and was held in police custody for two weeks. Her next court appearance is scheduled for September 30, 2026. The charges against Baffoe have not been proven by the court, and she maintains her innocence.
