Benjamin Netanyahu's UN speech fails to land in Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a speech to the United Nations General Assembly, but it failed to gain much support in Israel. The election campaign, declining global backing for Israel, and regional conflicts put Netanyahu under pressure to make a strong address. Yet, his accusations against Britain and France, claims of Western countries not opposing "barbarians" threatening their civilization, and criticism of Qatar did not win him many followers.

Netanyahu's speech drew a range of reactions from both supporters and critics. While ultra-nationalist members praised him and the National Security Minister called it "important," opposition politicians widely criticized it. Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, running for re-election, lamented missing a chance to label Qatar an enemy state. Palestinian-Israeli politician Ahmad Tibi mocked Netanyahu's effort, posting a video of delegates walking out during his speech.

Foreign diplomats, including an adviser to Qatar's Prime Minister, expressed disapproval, describing Netanyahu's rhetoric as an attempt to divert attention from atrocities committed by his government. Pro-Israel social media personalities and commentators, such as Eylon Levy and Hen Mazzig, also criticized the speech, stating it missed an opportunity to highlight the Iranian Axis's subversion of international order and the UN's complicity.
