Xi says US, China reach new trade arrangement during summit with Trump: report

Chinese President Xi Jinping announced on Thursday that the United States and China had reached a new trade arrangement, according to a report. The news came as Xi and U.S. President Donald Trump met in Washington to discuss artificial intelligence (AI), trade, security, and other crucial matters. Xinhua News Agency cited Xi as stating that the arrangement was "good news for industries and people of both countries, as well as the global economy," adding that a stable economic relationship necessitates expanding the list of cooperation and reducing the list of issues.

While the report did not specify the details of the new trade arrangement, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent informed Fox News that Washington and Beijing had agreed to extend their trade truce by two months until January 10. During the summit, Trump and Xi also exchanged perspectives on the Korean Peninsula, the Middle East, and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, as reported by the news outlet.
