Hollywood star Susan Sarandon among 100 arrested at New York anti-Netanyahu protest

Film star Susan Sarandon and actress Hannah Einbinder were among 100 people arrested in New York on Thursday during an anti-Netanyahu protest, according to police. The New York Police Department (NYPD) deployed officers to break up the demonstration, which blocked an intersection in the city as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was set to address the United Nations General Assembly.

Einbinder, a member of Jewish Voice for Peace, was reportedly "frog-marched" from the protest, which featured banners reading "Stop Arming Israel" and "End the Genocide". The NYPD stated that officers had issued warnings to participants to leave before taking those who refused into custody. Jewish Voice for Peace claimed over 400 people participated in a mass sit-in, urging an end to the genocide and US military funding to Israel. During Netanyahu's speech, many delegates walked out in protest.
