Former Obama administration official on Trump's talks with China's Xi

Chinese President Xi Jinping announced on Thursday that the United States and China have reached a new trade arrangement during a summit with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington. While the specifics of the trade deal were not disclosed, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed that the two nations had agreed to extend their trade truce until January 10. Xi emphasized the importance of AI cooperation between the two nations, urging them to leverage their strengths and prevent misuse of the technology. Xi's first visit to the U.S. in over a decade marked the leaders' third in-person meeting since Trump's return to office, with further meetings planned at the APEC summit in Shenzhen and the G20 summit in Miami.
