Umno man choosing govt post over ummah unity, says Penang PAS

Penang PAS has criticized Umno's Sg Acheh assemblyman Rashidi Zinol for prioritizing his government position over ummah unity. Rashidi, who is the sole state executive councillor for Barisan Nasional, defended the PH-BN partnership, a move that Pas has deemed counterproductive. Penang PAS information chief Fawwaz Jan expressed regret over Rashidi's stance, arguing that ummah unity should be a top priority for Malays in Penang and nationwide.

Jan questioned why Penang Umno continues to support the PH-DAP administration instead of joining forces with Perikatan Nasional to strengthen the ummah in Penang. Despite this, Pas has stated that they respect the political choice made by Penang Umno and wish the leadership all the best. However, they emphasized that the rakyat will judge who is genuinely fighting to save Penang and who is only comfortable with their positions.

Rashidi had previously called for continued cooperation between BN and PH, asserting that their collaboration had been constructive and beneficial to the state. Fawwaz also noted that Penang PAS regrets Rashidi's backing of the partnership at a time when Umno's role in the state government is being questioned by DAP adviser Lim Guan Eng, who has openly called for the party's removal from the state government.

Fawwaz accused Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow of leaving the fate of BN's representatives to the PH presidential council. Pas highlighted that the situation differs in Negeri Sembilan, where BN is partnering with Perikatan Nasional, demonstrating that ummah unity is possible when there is political will.
