Umno man choosing govt post over ummah unity, says Penang PAS

Penang PAS has expressed disappointment over Penang Umno's assemblyman Rashidi Zinol's recent comments endorsing the PH-BN partnership. According to PAS information chief Fawwaz Jan, Rashidi's support for the collaboration comes at a time when ummah unity should be a top priority for Malays in Penang and across the nation. Jan criticized Rashidi for prioritizing his government position over ummah unity, questioning why Umno leaders in Penang continued to back the PH-DAP administration instead of working with Perikatan Nasional to strengthen the ummah in the state.

Despite this, Penang PAS stated it would respect Penang Umno's political choice and wished the leadership the best, while noting that the door to dialogue with PAS remains open. The rakyat should judge who is genuinely fighting to save Penang and who is merely content with their positions, according to Jan. Rashidi had previously stated that cooperation between BN and PH had been constructive and beneficial to the state, citing a working relationship based on mutual respect, understanding, good communication, and a shared focus on the people's interests and the state's development.
