Umahi dismisses Peter Obi comparison, says ‘not yet Igbo turn’ for presidency

Minister of Works Dave Umahi dismissed comparisons between himself and presidential candidate Peter Obi, stating that Obi is not his match. Umahi, speaking at the 'Operation Rescue Benin-Asaba Road' event in Benin City, said that Obi's superiority cannot be measured by family background, intellectual capacity, or their contributions to the South-East.

He also defended his support for President Bola Tinubu, saying that administration members would not remain silent when the President and his government were criticized. Umahi described Obi as "a lucky person," clarifying that the Igbo would not yet produce Nigeria's president, but that it would eventually happen.
