UK air force fighter jet crashes on training exercise

A UK air force Hawk fighter jet experienced a crash during a training exercise in north Wales, according to Defence Minister Wes Streeting. The incident occurred on Wednesday, with the aircraft plunging into flames after an orange flame was observed during take-off. A video posted online purportedly shows the two pilots ejecting seconds before the crash.

The Hawk T2 jet was operating from RAF Valley station on Anglesey, an island off the northwest coast of Wales. Witnesses reported seeing the aircraft engulfed in flames as it accelerated. Wes Streeting, addressing a conference in London, confirmed that both pilots were being treated in a hospital, suffering from minor injuries. Police have taken charge of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Following the incident, the RAF announced a temporary suspension of Hawk T1 and T2 operations, citing the need for further investigation.
