Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight set for December in Cardiff

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have set a date for their highly anticipated heavyweight bout at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on December 11. The event, more than a decade in the making, will be broadcast worldwide on Netflix. The fight could begin early in the morning UK time to accommodate audiences in the United States. A news conference at London's City Hall is scheduled for September 30 to introduce the fighters.

Both are yet to comment on the announcement. The promotion of the event is a collaboration between Saudi boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh's The Ring and UFC chief Dana White. Both fighters signed contracts for the bout earlier this year, but the date and venue remained uncertain until recently. While Wembley Stadium and Madison Square Garden were initial frontrunners, Cardiff emerged as the preferred location.

The Principality Stadium has previously hosted late-night boxing matches, including Joe Calzaghe vs. Mikkel Kessler in 2007. Cardiff's organizers see the fight as a boost to the city's reputation and a significant economic benefit. Joshua had pushed for the fight to take place in the UK, and his promoter Eddie Hearn is grateful for the public's support.

UFC president Dana White's involvement in the promotion is noteworthy. Boxing fans have long demanded a heavyweight showdown between Fury and Joshua, and on December 11, they will finally face off, with the winner cementing their place in heavyweight history.
