Tree planting in Praia Grande opens Santos FC launch

Santos FC commenced the third day of its Leão do Mar Institute launch on Wednesday (23) with a tree-planting event in Praia Grande. This event forms part of the Club's weekly program, culminating on Sunday (27) with a beach cleanup in Santos. In attendance were Santos FC vice-president Fernando Bonavides, administrative manager Luiz Fernando Vella, Praia Grande's Director of Environmental Education Daniela Piconi, Scouts of Brazil, Eternal Idol Pepe, youth academy players from the men's team and Sereias da Vila, as well as supportive crowds.

Vice-president Bonavides stressed the significance of public authorities in the project. He appreciated Praia Grande City Hall's backing for the Leão do Mar Institute and their presence at the event. Bonavides affirmed that this partnership bolsters their initiative, which has already begun with great momentum. Santos FC, renowned worldwide, also holds deep roots in the Baixada Santista region.

Daniela Piconi, the city's Director of Environmental Education, underscored the necessity for a city adorned with trees. She stressed that the collaboration with the Leão do Mar Institute is of paramount importance. Today's tree-planting, she explained, involves inserting purple trumpet trees and manacá trees. More than mere planting, it embodies care and a commitment to a sustainable future. The city already boasts projects and a tree-planting plan, with today's event being one of many initiatives in their roadmap.

Tomorrow (24), Santos FC will journey to Cubatão aboard an ecological catamaran, accompanied by students from the local public school system.
