Togbe Afede apologises for late start of Volta economic forum

Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli, has expressed regret over the delayed start of the Volta Economic Forum, which commenced approximately one hour and forty minutes later than planned. The forum, part of this year's Asogli Te Za celebrations, was initially set to begin earlier but faced significant delays, leading to discussions among participants and guests. Some attendees arrived after 1000 hours, exacerbating the tardiness and sparking conversations about the recurring issue of late starts at major public events.

Addressing the audience, Togbe Afede acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the forum's delayed commencement and emphasized the need for a shift in societal attitudes towards time. He stressed the importance of punctuality, arguing that the conventional wisdom that "time is money" has lost relevance in contemporary society, where delays are increasingly tolerated at public functions. The Agbogbomefia urged individuals and organizations to place greater value on timeliness, particularly during significant events.

Togbe Afede called for a departure from the concept of "African time" and advocated for a culture that respects agreed-upon times for meetings, ceremonies, and other essential engagements.
