Togbe Afede apologises for late start of Volta economic forum

Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of Asogli, has apologized to attendees of the Volta Economic Forum for the significant delay in starting the event, which began around one hour and 40 minutes later than planned. The forum, one of the activities commemorating this year's Asogli Te Za celebrations, had been scheduled to commence earlier, but the delay sparked discussions among participants and guests present at the event.

Several invited guests arrived after 1000 hours, further contributing to the event's delayed start and reigniting conversations about the recurring issue of late openings at significant public gatherings. Addressing the audience, Togbe Afede expressed his regret over the postponement and apologized for the inconvenience caused by the late inception of the forum.

He emphasized the necessity for a change in mindset regarding time, stressing the importance of valuing punctuality, especially when attending crucial programs. The Agbogbomefia pointed out that the popular adage "time is money" seemed to have lost some of its practical relevance in the present era, where delays have become increasingly accepted in public functions.

Consequently, he urged the general public to abandon the notion of "African time" and cultivate a culture that respects designated times for meetings, ceremonies, and other significant engagements. Togbe Afede highlighted punctuality as a key factor for productivity, accountability, and efficient utilization of time, urging organizers, invitees, and participants to collaborate in eradicating the culture of tardiness at major programs.
