Russia will not end war “without pressure”: Zelensky responds to attack on Kyiv during UNGA

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia will not cease its relentless conflict without facing significant pressure, following an assault on Kyiv, as he convened with US officials in New York on Wednesday to deliberate the necessity of fortifying sanctions. At least two individuals lost their lives in the strikes, which targeted civilian infrastructure, residential buildings, a maternity hospital, energy infrastructure, and logistics, according to a statement by Zelensky on X. Emergency services persist in rescuing individuals trapped within demolished structures, he disclosed.

A convention center that serves as headquarters for Zelensky's party was also targeted, as reported by Kyiv city officials. Zelensky emphasized that each such attack occurs because pressure on the aggressor has never reached a decisive level, and Russia remains confident in continuing to rely on ballistic terror. Currently, the United States has an opportunity to respond robustly, Zelensky asserted, highlighting Ukraine's urgent requirement for additional missile interceptors.

During an earlier address to the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday, Zelensky identified Russian President Vladimir Putin as "patient zero" and maintained that the greater freedom Putin enjoys to act, the more perilous the world becomes for everyone else.
