Qatar participates in roundtable on early recovery in Gaza

On Thursday, Qatar took part in a high-level roundtable focused on early recovery efforts in Gaza, held during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, the Minister of State for International Cooperation for Qatar, represented the nation at the gathering.

During her remarks, Minister Al Misnad highlighted that Qatar remains committed to mediating the conflict through coordination with partners, namely Egypt, Turkey, and the United States. The goal is to fully implement the comprehensive peace plan and its roadmap as outlined in UN Security Council Resolution 2803.

Al Misnad stressed the importance of preserving the ceasefire and fulfilling all obligations under the first phase of the peace plan, which includes the immediate, safe, and unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid and resources for early recovery. She also pointed out that the roadmap is a crucial part of the peace plan, setting the stage for the second phase, which involves disarming military forces, achieving a full Israeli withdrawal, deploying an international stabilization force, empowering the National Committee for the Management of the Gaza Strip, and initiating early recovery and reconstruction efforts across the territory.

Addressing the dire humanitarian situation, Al Misnad emphasized that early recovery efforts must go hand in hand with meeting the urgent needs of the Palestinian people. Fuel remains a critical factor in maintaining essential civil services. Over the past three years, Qatar has provided approximately 30 million liters of fuel to Gaza and recently signed an agreement with the UN to deliver an additional 1.3 million liters.

In addition to humanitarian efforts, Qatar has supported healthcare in Gaza, operating the HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani Hospital for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics, which serves tens of thousands of patients and individuals with disabilities. The Minister of State for International Cooperation reaffirmed Qatar's dedication to working with partners, including the UN, the Peace Council, the Palestinian Authority, and all relevant parties, to advance early recovery and reconstruction, alleviate Palestinian suffering, and promote a just, enduring, and comprehensive peace.

She stressed that these efforts must ultimately lead to the reunification of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and Gaza, and establish a credible, irreversible path toward realizing the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the creation of an independent state.
