Qatar participates in a roundtable on early recovery in Gaza

On the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Qatar took part in a high-level roundtable discussing early recovery efforts in Gaza. The event was attended by Dr. Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, the Minister of State for International Cooperation for Qatar.

In her address, the Minister emphasized Qatar's ongoing mediation efforts, alongside Egypt, Turkey, and the United States, to ensure the comprehensive peace plan's full implementation. This plan, outlined in UN Security Council Resolution 2803, aims to halt the ceasefire, provide humanitarian aid, and restore vital infrastructure in Gaza.

The Minister underscored that the roadmap is a crucial component of the peace plan, outlining steps to dismantle military capabilities, deploy an international stabilization force, and initiate early recovery work across the Gaza Strip. She stressed that humanitarian needs, particularly fuel, are critical to sustaining essential services, with Qatar having supplied 30 million liters of fuel to Gaza over the past three years, and recently agreeing to provide an additional 1.3 million liters.

Qatar's Minister also highlighted the healthcare sector's importance, noting that the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Hospital in Gaza serves tens of thousands of patients. She reiterated Qatar's commitment to collaborate with partners, including the UN, Peace Council, Palestinian Authority, and other relevant parties, to advance early recovery and reconstruction efforts, alleviate Palestinian suffering, and support a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace.

The Minister concluded by stating that efforts toward recovery and reconstruction must ultimately lead to the reunification of the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza, paving the way for a self-determined, independent Palestinian state.
