Peter Obi: Labour Party won 2023 presidential election – AA’s Joseph Faduri

Joseph Faduri, a presidential aspirant of the Action Alliance, asserted on Thursday that the Labour Party (LP) emerged victorious in the 2023 presidential election. Faduri made this claim while recounting how he informed the then LP candidate, Peter Obi, of his victory after transferring the party's flag to him. Obi finished third in the election, trailing behind former Vice President Atiku Abubakar (PDP) and the eventual winner, President Bola Tinubu (APC).

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Tinubu as the winner after securing 37 percent of the votes, while Atiku garnered 29 percent and Obi received 25 percent. Faduri, speaking on Arise Television's Morning Show, claimed that he had handed over the LP ticket for the 2022 election and had previously informed Nigerians that the Labour Party would win.

He also addressed the issue of INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan not recognizing a court order acknowledging Kenneth Udeze as the legitimate leader of the Action Alliance. Faduri argued that, according to Nigeria's constitution, a Court of Appeal's decision supersedes a High Court's ruling. When the Court of Appeal upheld Udeze's claim, INEC Chairman Amupitan failed to comply and continued to support the previous High Court decision.
