Pakistan strikes 10 sites in Afghanistan

Pakistan executed precision aerial and drone strikes on ten Afghan locations used for launching and storing drones following a recent attempted incursion from Afghan territory, declared Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Thursday. In a recent X post, Tarar affirmed that Pakistan's Air Defense systems successfully detected, tracked, and neutralized all intruding drones before they could reach their intended targets.

He emphasized that the strikes were executed in accordance with Pakistan's sovereign right to self-defense and were executed deliberately, precisely, calibrated, and proportionately, targeting military objectives directly linked to the attempted attacks. Tarar vehemently condemned an "unlawful and deliberate" incursion into Pakistani territory by drones launched from Afghanistan, branding it a violation of Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He reiterated that Pakistan had repeatedly expressed its concerns to the Afghan Taliban regime and its intermediaries over the continued presence of terrorist sanctuaries and support networks on Afghan soil. Instead of dismantling such networks and taking 'credible and verifiable' action against those operating from Afghan territory, the Afghan Taliban regime had exacerbated the situation through drone operations, according to Tarar.

He reiterated Pakistan's stance that it would not tolerate attacks launched from Afghan territory, be it by terrorist groups or the Afghan Taliban regime itself, warning that any violation of Pakistan's sovereignty would be met with an immediate response. He called on the Afghan Taliban regime to immediately cease hostile actions against Pakistan and fulfill its international obligations by taking 'effective, concrete, verifiable, and sustained' action against militant entities operating from Afghan soil.

He reiterated that Afghanistan must not be utilized to launch attacks or conduct hostile operations against Pakistan. Although Pakistan did not seek escalation and remained committed to regional peace, dialogue, and constructive engagement, Tarar warned that any further 'provocative act' by the Afghan Taliban would draw a firm response.
