Nashik: 6,000 Tribal People To Perform Godavari Aarti Alongside President Murmu

Nashik: An elaborate Godavari Aarti, involving approximately 6,000 tribal people, is being organized as part of the preparations for the upcoming Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2027. President Droupadi Murmu's participation is anticipated to lend national significance to the event. President Murmu is set to attend the Simhastha flag-hoisting ceremony on October 31, 2026, which will occur simultaneously at Ramkund in Nashik and Kushavarta Tirtha in Trimbakeshwar at 12:02 pm.

The event is being planned around the Ramkund-Godavari riverfront, featuring a series of religious and cultural events as part of the Simhastha preparations. The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority has outlined that the programme will incorporate Godavari Aarti, Deep Prajwalan, illumination, Shankhanad, devotional presentations and various other cultural activities.

The involvement of around 6,000 tribal people is expected to be a significant highlight of the proposed Aarti. This event will serve as a platform to exhibit the rich traditional culture, customs, folk traditions, and community participation of Maharashtra's tribal population. It will also emphasize the time-honored bond between tribal communities, nature, and rivers.

President Murmu has previously been involved in programs centered on tribal society and has publicly expressed the significance of achieving a harmonious balance between development and traditional values, as well as the preservation of natural resources.

Ahead of the agriculture minister's visit on September 26, a preparatory meeting was held to lay the groundwork for the Godavari Aarti. Consequently, this event will blend religious devotion, cultural expression, and community participation. Tribal communities are expected to play a prominent role in the proceedings. Apart from the Aarti, several other events are being planned around Ramkund, Kushavarta, and Neel Parvat as part of the flag-hoisting program. The primary objective is to create an unforgettable commencement to the Simhastha preparations.
